Puppet portraits

Red riding hood' wolf

Red riding hood wolf as Grandma

The puppets I made have been calling to me to paint their portraits. As much as I enjoyed making the puppets I find they lack a certain something until they have someone pulling their strings. Doing these paintings has allowed me to explore them a little further and give them a little more personality. The solo wolf I wanted to make a lumbering beast… Arms outstretched like Frankenstein or a zombie… Something unstoppable.
The Snow Queen I wanted to show as cold and in movement…swirling snow and ice.
And the triple headed wolf… I wanted to show just how pleased with himself he was, sitting waiting for Red Riding hood having dispatched Grandma and comfortably waiting for his next meal 🙂
